Bachelor of Science, Educational Studies - Min. 120 Hours

Note: This is not a certification program.

The Educational Studies major is available to students as an alternative to their certification program. Candidates who complete this major are not eligible for recommendation for state teaching certification.

General Education Requirements: 41-43 Hours

Educational Studies Major (34 Hours)

NOTE: This is not a certification program.

Students must have 34 hours of educational studies courses from one of four three tracks. These tracks include Elementary/Early Childhood/Special Education, Physical Education, Music Education, and Middle School/Secondary Education as shown below. At least 15 hours must be at the 300-level.

Elementary/Early Childhood/Special Education

Courses taken for the Elementary/Early Childhood/Special Education track may be courses with an ED, SE, or PY prefix (only PY210, PY223, or PY342/343).

Physical Education

Courses taken for the Physical Education track may be courses with an ED, PE (only those courses required for education), or PY prefix (only PY210, PY223, or PY342/343).

Music Education

Courses taken for the Music Education track may be courses with an ED, MU (pedagogy only), or PY prefix (only PY210, PY223, or PY342/343).

Middle School/Secondary Education:

Courses taken for the content area certification with at least 18 hours of ED or PY courses (only PY210, PY223, or PY342/343).
