Admission of International Students

To be considered for admission to Central Methodist University, International Students must meet all the criteria appropriate to their educational category as listed above. They must also:

  • Submit for an online or paper application for admission. Online Application
  • Submit official transcripts of all work comparable to secondary and post-secondary work including grade point average and class rank when possible. Courses from Non-U.S. Institutions will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
  • Submit evidence of financial ability to pay for that portion of tuition, board and room not covered by academic or performance scholarships.
    • Official copies of bank statements dated within the past six months.
    • Affidavit of support which has been signed, dated, and notarized.
  • Present evidence of proficiency in the English language through the submission of official test scores. We accept any of the following five nationally recognized tests:
    • International English Language Testing (IELTS) 5.5 with no section score below a 4.5
    • Duolingo 95 with no section score below 70
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) 59-64 with no section score below 15
    • SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing (EBRW) 420
    • ACT English 19
    • Proficiency conversation.

    The following applicants are exempt from English Proficiency Requirements:

    • Applicants from the countries in with the official language is English.
    • Applicants who have completed two semesters or three quarters of college-level English Composition from an accredited U.S. college or university which transfers to CMU as EN110 and EN111 – with a minimum grade of “C”. Official transcripts are required. Note: English Composition courses for non-native speakers do not qualify.
    • Applicants who have completed four years and graduated from a U.S. high school. Official transcripts are required to maintain legal status by complying with the USCIS SEVIS regulations governing F-1 students.
  • Maintain legal status by complying with the USCIS SEVIS regulations governing F-1 students.
