Written Communication - 6 hours required
Accepted Courses:
EN110 College Composition I (ACT English Subscore of 24 or below)
EN111 College Composition II (Placement information: Students may place into EN111 with a grade of 'C' or better in EN110, an ACT English subscore of 25 or higher, or portfolio meeting requirements created by the English faculty. Students who earn placement in EN111 through the ACT or portfolio will be granted 3 credit hours for EN110.)

CORE 42 Natural Science courses with labs

Mathematical Science - 3-5 hours required
Accepted courses:
MA courses numbered 103-299 are accepted with the exception of MA224, which may only be used for Early Childhood Education majors.
Placement is based on ACT Math Subscore or placement assessment. Students with an ACT Math Subscore of 19 or lower are placed into MA090. Students with scores of 20-21 place in MA103I or MA109I. Students with scores of 22 or above may take any eligible math course.

Social Science - 3 hours required

100- and 200-level social sciences courses with the CJ (Criminal Justice), CT (Communication), EC (Economics), HI (History), PS (Political Science), PY (Psychology), and SO (Sociology) prefixes (excluding Special Problems courses and Internships)
CORE 42 Behavioral and Social Sciences. For CORE 42 compatibility, it is recommended at least one course is from a different discipline than the course fulfilling the Civics Requirement and that students take courses from at least two different disciplines.

A maximum of three credit hours from lessons and ensembles may be counted toward the Humanities and Fine Arts requirement for either Foundations of Inquiry or Intellectual Discovery. Courses taken for zero credit hours will not count toward the Humanities and Fine Arts requirement.
CORE 42 Humanities & Fine Arts courses may be used to fulfill part or all of this requirement.

First-Year Experience - 3 hours required

CMU 110 is required of first-time freshmen who have not had a semester of study on a university campus and transfer students with fewer than 12 transferable credit hours earned. Transfer students with 12 or more transferable earned credits who have had a full-time semester of study on a university campus are exempt from the course. Any exceptions to this policy must be approved by the First Year Experience Course Director.
